History

Its proximity to the Graz train station was the reason Alois Daniel built his hotel right here in 1886. A place of arrival and departure—then as now.

About 60 years later, following the destruction of World War II, architect Georg Lippert created the Daniel as we know it today. With its clean lines and the characteristic details of postwar modernism, it is considered a prime example of 1950s architecture. Today, the building is a designated historic landmark and ranks among Austria’s few authentic mid-century hotels.

Since 2002, Florian and Astrid Weitzer have been carefully refining the Daniel. Rather than relying on spectacle, they focus on authenticity, meticulous curation, and the quality of what already exists.
